Fish-Man Nitoryu is a swordsmanship style that combines the use of swordsmanship with a fish-man's ability to manipulate water. There are many different techniques for this sword style such as high speed attacks, direct hit attacks, and compressed air projectile attacks. This swordsmanship style was created and mastered by Ryomen Sakana, the First Mate of the Red Hood Pirates.

Overview[]

Ryomen Sakana

Ryomen Sakana, the creator of Fish-Man Nitoryu

As the name suggests, this style is a variation of Nitoryu and much like Fish-Man Karate, the secret of Fish-Man Nitoryu is a fish-man's ability to manipulate the water in the user's direct vicinity; using it's power to greatly increase the swordsmanship technqiues as well as send powerful waves impacting the water within the opponent's body. Despite being an underwater-based fighting style, Fish-Man Nitoryu is very effective on land due to being able to utilize the water in the atmosphere and make use of it to attack. The user can also manipulate the water around them as if it were a tangible material, making it much easier to use in conjunction with a sword.

While the manipulation of water is a large part of this style, Sakana has a plethora of moves that do not rely on water manipulation and instead just use his raw swordsmanship skills.

After training to learn Busoshoku Haki, Sakana began placing a heavy emphasis on using advanced Busoshoku Haki with it, increasing the power of his strikes to much higher levels than available to him before. This swordsmanship style seems to place an emphasis on overwhelming strength but has plenty of high speed techniques as well. Sakana typically utilizes a standard grip with his two blades but for certain techniques he has been shown to use a reverse grip, he also has been shown to be a master of the Iaido technique; quickly unsheathing, attacking, then resheathing his blade at high speeds.

Same Kiru

Sakana using Same Kiru

  • Same Kiru (少量の Same Kiru, literally meaning "Shark Cutter"): Sakana generates water by manipulating it from the atmosphere and coating it around his both of his swords. He then jumps and swings his blades forward while spinning vertically while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion, creating a large wheel of water that cuts through an opponents defense. In English, this technique is called Shark Slasher.
  • Mizu Arashi (水嵐 Mizu Arashi, literally meaning "Water Tempest"): Sakana generates water from the atmosphere and coats it around both of his swords, he then slashes in a spinning formation around himself, releasing a cyclone of water and air slashes. In English, this technique is called Water Storm.
  • Jigoku Taki (黄泉滝 Jigoku Taki, literally meaning "Hell Waterfall"): Sakana generates water from the atmosphere before slashing downward at an opponents head, creating five large streams of pressurized water that crush the opponent. In English, this technique is called Hell's Waterfall.
Ryu Arashi

Gyojin Nitoryu Ogi: Ryu Arashi

  • Gyojin Nitoryu Ogi: Ryu Arashi (魚人二刀流黄泉電流 Gyojin Nitoryu Ogi: Ryu Arashi literally meaning "Fish-Man Two Sword Style Secret Skill: Dragon Tempest"): Sakana generates a large amount of water from the atmosphere while simultaneously rotating his swords rapidly while running towards his opponent to create momentum; and slashes at them, causing the water to take the form of a large dragon that attacks the opponent. In English, this technique is called Fish-Man Two-Sword Style Secret Technique: Dragon Storm.
